Kit lenses don't always have a good reputation for performance, especially when they have a longer than usual focal range like this one, but in fact the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM is a real cracker, offering very good sharpness right across the zoom range – though like many Canon RF lenses it relies on digital corrections applied in Performance. For such a light and compact lens, the Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 IS STM performs admirably, and anyone who has used the Canon RF 35mm or RF 85mm lenses will be able to seamlessly switch between those lenses and this one. The autofocus is very fast and accurate, with the STM motor smoothly moving between focal points. The 24 mm definitely sounds like a better choice though the lower observed depth of field from the crop sensor makes the 1.8 / 2.8 still 'feel' like f4. Check out Brian's review over at the digital picture, and you could compare it to some of the other not so great RF lenses like the 16 pancake.

Rokinon AF 35/2.8 FE. The tiny APS-C Sony 20mm is also very nice--very fast AF. I'll recommend the Canon EF 40 F2.8 STM over the older SLR pancakes, but the Rokinon is much better than it.
