A three-letter combination, the same as the two-letter combination, is assigned to each country or region. The three-letter combinations are also known as the three-letter abbreviations or Alpha-3 codes, and they are internationally recognized. For example, the "USA" stands for the United States, and the "AUS" stands for Australia.
